So, why would you want a wireless crane scale in place of a regular one? There are several reasons for this. So, why is Bluetooth used for communicating this data? There are several huge advantages to using Bluetooth. First off, it is entirely wireless. This advantage is obvious. You are not in need at all of wiring coming off of the crane scale and running to a receiving device or computer. In the case where you may have a massive crane but want to read the applied load down on the ground, this has very obvious benefits.
Bluetooth also offers several other great advantages. First off, it is a very economic method of communication. The hardware needed to implement Bluetooth communications are all highly affordable. This helps keep the cost of your final product down. Secondly, it experiences very minimal interference which is great for when you want reliable data for a long period of time. Lastly, it uses very little power to operate.

You may be curious how far you can be away in order for your Bluetooth communication to still work. Generally, it can reach about 100 meters. If there are lots of obstacles in the way, this distance can be even shorter. If you need to communicate wirelessly from even greater distances with your overhead crane scale, is there something that you can do?
When greater distances are required a different type of Radio Frequency protocol is used instead of Bluetooth. With Eilon Engineering’s products, the RF communication will be used to cover large distances and Bluetooth will be used for the final leg. This way, your RF signals can be transferred long distances, picked up by a receiver, and then transmitted via Bluetooth to the device of your choice. This makes for hanging crane scales that can cover very large distances.
