Wireless Load Indicators
If you’re in the market for a wireless load indicator, you’re in the right place. Below, we’ll explore what they are, their key features, considerations when purchasing a new wireless load indicator, and more.
What are wireless load indicators?
A wireless load indicator is part of a larger wireless weighing system. These systems consist of a load cell, which lifts and measures the load, and a wireless indicator that displays the measurement. They can be used for a variety of weighing during lifting applications and for remote load monitoring.
There are several types of wireless load cell indicators: from large LED screens to be read from afar, to handheld LCD indicators that are part of a portable weighing solution.
Key features of a wireless load indicator
Let’s look at some of the key features of wireless load indicators and what makes them important.
Digital load indicator
First off, a modern load indicator should have a digital display. And while you can still find systems with an analog display, you’re much better off using digital technology. Not only is a digital display much more convenient and easier to read, it’s also more accurate and reliable.
A digital load indicator is the way to go.
Advanced wireless technology
Not all wireless technology is created equally. A good load indicator should be manufactured by a reputable company with a proven track record of advanced wireless technology.
At Eilon Engineering, we pioneered the use of wireless load monitoring almost 50 years ago and have continued to develop it ever since. This is why our systems offer industry-leading battery life stemming from our advanced wireless technology, which allows for maximum efficiency.
Wireless safety features
When lifting heavy loads, safety is the name of the game. A wireless load indicator should have basic safety features like overload warnings and low battery life indications. These features are critical in preventing accidents.
As such, all Eilon indicators feature dual-level overload indication at 100% and 130%, and a low battery warning that’s displayed on the indicator screen. In fact, with an Eilon Engineering system, the battery life percentage will be the first thing displayed when the system is turned on, giving operators this important safety information from the start.
User-friendly interface
A user-friendly interface is more than just a convenience—it’s actually a critical safety feature as well.
If operators are able to easily navigate and operate the system, they’ll be less likely to make potentially dangerous errors.
A good user interface should be intuitive and easy to use. It should have clear, large buttons that will help prevent mistakes from pressing in the wrong place.
For example, our Ron 2501 wireless system’s indicator features a clear design with large buttons. The indicator can be safely and easily operated even while wearing work gloves.
Portable weighing solutions
A wireless load indicator is an important part of a portable weighing system. A wireless system gives operators freedom of movement on the job site, and having a portable remote handheld indicator is part of the equation.
Eilon’s Ron 2501 wireless load cell comes with a handheld indicator that is lightweight and portable. It can easily fit in many pockets, and it has a belt clip for easy transport on the job site.
Finding your perfect wireless load indicator
Selecting the right wireless load indicator for your needs doesn’t have to be complicated. The indicator should be part of a quality remote load monitoring system, such as a crane scale, dynamometer, or load cell.
Once you decide which type of system you need, next you’ll need to decide on its size, i.e. what its maximum lifting capacity will be.
Eilon Engineering offers wireless weighing systems in a range of capacities: from 0.5 tons to 300 tons. Be sure to select a capacity that will suit all of your potential lifting applications and never lift more than the max capacity.
Next, decide on the type of indicator. You’ll want to make sure the indicator will suit your needs, so look for features like:
- Lightweight and part of a portable weighing solution
- Easy to use and operate with large, clear buttons
- An intuitive, easy to navigate and user-friendly interface
- Safety features like overload warnings and low battery indication
Finally, consider the size of the screen you’ll need. If you only need a single operator to be able to read the system’s measurements, then a handheld indicator will do the trick.
However, if multiple personnel need access to the measurements, consider a large indicator. For example, we offer indicators with 0.5”, 1”, and 2” LCD screens.
Alternatively, you may want to consider having multiple indicators for a single system, which is possible with the wireless Ron 2501.
Ron Crane Scale indicators
All Eilon Engineering indicators have an easy-to-read and intuitive panel with a nine-button keypad and a six-digit liquid-crystal display.
They offer the advanced functionality that you’d expect from a high-quality wireless weighing system including ZERO, MAX, TARE, and a two-level visual overload warning.
Additional functionalities are also available, including manual and automatic data logging, a totalizer to store selected loads, and more.
The keypad is easy to operate, and the system responds to each keypress with a short audio signal.
The system features a two-level visual overload warning. When loaded to 100% of its maximum capacity and beyond, the displayed weight will flash on and off continuously.
Should the system be drastically overloaded (130% of max capacity), the word DANGER will appear on the display. Only when the system is completely unloaded and the measured value reduced to zero will the message disappear.
