Walbusch Marine Services: salmon cages
Designed by Walbusch Maritime Services, these innovative 80x80-meter salmon cages are the largest in Chile and hold 400,000 fish each.
The cages' robust design includes damping and pivoting components that enable them to withstand the high wind and wave environment of Southern Chile.
A special mooring system helps maintain the cultivation net's volume, and a central aisle provides safe access for workers. The design ensures greater replacement of water and oxygenation than traditional cages.
The project used a 40-ton wireless Ron system with automatic data logging. This allowed for easy data transfer to a PC for record-keeping and analysis.
